A Motorcycle Story

Over the years I've managed to ignore the verbal abuse steming from unenlightened spouse's objections to cleaning oil fouled plugs over the burners on the stove, boiling carburator parts, heat curing (baking) painted parts, coffee table carburator rebuilding.....etc.

Then came the now infamous Suzuki (motorcycle) engine rebuild, which took place in the family room one rainy afternoon. My eldest and I had decided to install a big bore kit on my Bike and since LOML was in the hospital recovering from some woman type surgury, and wouldn't be home til tomorrow, now was the time!! We wheeled it into the family room, put it up on a milk crate, spread newspapers about to catch the oil, grease and gunk, and proceded to tear it apart.

About three hours into the job The Phone Rang!!!!! Char sensing something was amiss, fanaggled an 'early out' and wanted to be picked up NOW!! I remember thinking "sick lady + motorcycle in family room = Bad news, much noise," and "clean family room = peace and quiet". Luckly we were in the finishing stages, carb, tank, chain...So after assurances, from my son that all signs of our momentous feat would be erased, I jumped into the Bcuda and sped off to pick her up.

We returned home and entered the now " empty of motorcycle" family room, "whats that?" says Char pointing to a rather 'small' (by my standards) 3 foot dark circle on the rug, "thats just some soap and water I used to clean up the grease from Dads' motorcycle" says my son quietly, "Oh" says Char softly and she toddles off to bed. Ah all is quiet, peace and harmony, life is good. ;^)

The next day, when I return from work, I enter the living room and discover the spot is gone! The NEW wall to wall carpet @$22 per yd has made it disappear! "looks good" says I to LOML, while silently vowing never to mention or do that again, Char just stands there with a smile on her face.

Kind of reminds me about buying the Beemer...
