My mother was from the old country (Italy) and my father was full blooded German. How is that for a combination. Amy says I am typical of both heritages. Italian for the hot temper and passion and the German hardhead. I guess at times I am like a brick wall when I make up my mind about something.
Amy is still employed with the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department as a 9-1-1 Emergency Medical Dispatcher. She has been employed with the County for 20 years. She is planning on retiring in December of 1997. Her interests are oil painting and reading. She would like to display her paintings at our produce stand when she retires and earn a little bit of extra jing for her pocket. She has already sold some of her paintings and has given away quite a few as gifts to friends and family members.
We used to be avid motorcyclists but sold our Honda Gold Wing when I retired as we soon discovered the best time to ride is spring through the fall and that is my busiest time on the farm. So we had to sell our toys. The next toy we had to let go was our 26 foot Islander Bahama. A beautiful sailboat, fully contained so we could take it for extended sailing trips. One year we spent a week down in the San Francisco Bay. Just sailing around in the Bay between Richmond, Treasure Island, Angel Island,and the Fisherman's Wharf area. I think we could have lived on the boat and loved it, if we hadn't had other commitments.
Between us we have four children. 3 boys and 1 girl. We also have 4 grandsons, 1 dog and 2 cats.
We belong to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Angels Camp and are quite active in the Italian Catholic Federation. The Italian Catholic Federation, also known as, ICF was organized about 70 years ago by an Italian immigrant that wanted to fellowship and assist other immigrants and have a social outlet where they could all get together. They wanted to preserve their Catholic beliefs and Italian heritage. The organization has now grown throughout the United States and has branches in quite a few states and we are still growing.
